Code of Conduct

The Budo Academy LLC reserves the right to request to perform a background check on any existing teacher, member, student, or new applicant at our discretion. Should any background check return information of any criminal activity deemed worthy of concern for the safety of our members, we reserve the right to deny membership application and/or cancel an active membership at any time.

The Budo Academy LLC takes great pride in the quality of its instruction and training environment. This Code of Conduct is intended to ensure a safe, friendly, and respectful place for members, visitors, and staff to gather in the spirit of cooperation, good will, and personal growth.

This Code of Conduct gives examples of acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Please note that the privilege of any individual to train with us may be denied, suspended, or terminated if it is determined to be in the best interest of the members and their safety. Any individual or party whose conduct disrupts the operation of the facility or creates a disturbance to the detriment of the operation, staff, members or visitors of the dojo, will be asked to leave the facility immediately and may be subject to additional administrative or legal action.

All members and visitors of the Budo Academy LLC are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that:

  • Creates an environment and culture that is reflective of the personal integrity and respect in the ethics of budo. Where it is written and we are capable of enforcing rules upon ourselves with honesty, integrity, and good sportsmanship. The same integrity, honesty, and good will are expected, whether on the dojo floor, in the building, or present on any other portion of the property while representing the organization, or off the property and when hosting visitors for events.
  • Understands that unauthorized use of any property from the Budo Academy, both intellectual and physical, including our budo crane logo and any other images from the website, shall be subject to copyright laws and penalties.
  • Understands that copying and distributing copyrighted materials, including images and videos, without the permission of the dojo cho, can be liable for copyright infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties.
  • Is free of discrimination or any form of harassing behavior to fellow members, visitors, or teachers.
  • Acknowledges The Budo Academy LLC facilities as a professional environment and refrains from using obscenities, excessively loud or otherwise inappropriate behavior.
  • Observes that firearms and illegal substances are not allowed on the premises regardless of permits or licensure.
  • Acknowledges that no alcoholic beverages or illegal substances be consumed during training on the dojo floor. Also acknowledges the safety of all visitors and members who are suspected of intoxication, will be asked to leave.
  • Acknowledges no person shall attempt to sell products or services by means of direct or indirect methods of solicitation, or employ or allow any other person to do so in the dojo or amongst dojo members without written consent from dojo cho.
  • Shows the utmost respect and dignity to fellow members visitors, and teachers
  • Does not misrepresent their position or authority to others.
  • Follows the published dress code in the dojo guide.
  • Does not interfere with the ability of members and/or staff to use the dojo for training.
  • Understands when using social media in connection with the dojo and its affiliates, its officials or members, is done so in a manner that couldn’t be deemed offensive. And understands the impact of posts and may be directed to take them down.
  • Acknowledges Images on social media of any certificates obtained from the dojo or its affiliates are prohibited.

Understands any member or visitor who violates or fails to observe this Code of Conduct may be sanctioned as follows:

  • Issuance of a verbal warning or a written warning.
  • Permanent suspension of membership
  • Removal from the facility.
  • Monetary restitution for personal damages and / or damages to property.
  • Forfeiture of all fees paid.
